Post-Holiday

Claire, on me washing her hair, and pulling my fingers through to get out the knots: “Mommy, I’m human and you just don’t care.”

Cancer sucks.  I’ve been so focused on the women and the breast/ovarian cancer in my family, that I was thrown for a loop with my father-in-law’s diagnosis of a tennis-ball sized melanoma [...]

Things that make me happy

1.  getting a poem (a crown of sonnets no less) accepted for publication
2.  after withdrawing it from a simultaneous submission (I swear i waited months before simsubbing it), getting a really nice note that the editors liked it
3. having written a good crown of sonnets in the first place.
