Invention Strategies This page covers some basic idea-generating ideas with some propmts to get you going on a narrative-based essay.
Exploring Our Lives The first essay assignment is a personal narrative. This page gives details and tips on following a process in addition to information given in class.
Shaping Information The second essay of the quarter gives students experience defining concepts using their own experiences and knowledge to understand, complicate, and explore these definitions. This also includes a link to the Connections writing exercise.
Contending with Issues The third essay of the quarter deals with an issue presented by an essay from the text. Students will take a position based on what they learn about the issue from the essay, using the essay to support their positions, or the students will refute the positions taken in the essay.
